Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer
Throughout his career, Graham Blackwell has followed his passion for building and growing businesses through the sharpening of strategy and execution.
After graduating with a finance degree from Ohio University, Graham began his career at consulting firm Accenture, where he focused on solving clients’ operational and technical challenges. He worked across a wide variety of industrial businesses in both the U.S. and parts of Asia.
Following his time at Accenture, Graham attended the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he earned his MBA with honors. It was a formative two years as he focused his coursework on strategy, finance, and entrepreneurship. Graham returned to consulting after business school, joining McKinsey & Company in its Chicago office. There, he advised largely leading retailers and consumer services companies on a broad set of strategic, commercial, and organizational topics.
In 2011, Graham joined Bain Capital as a member of their North American Private Equity team.
He worked closely with the boards, management teams, and broader organizations of portfolio companies to define and execute enterprise-wide strategic transformation. His efforts resulted in accelerating revenue growth and strong investor returns, with much of his work in technology-enabled businesses. Graham left Bain Capital in early 2019 as an executive vice president.
Upon his departure from Bain Capital, Graham joined SMS Assist in his current role as chief commercial and strategy officer. He is responsible for leading the company’s sales and marketing functions, as well as working across the broader organization to evolve the company’s strategy. Graham’s on a mission to help SMS keep growing and disrupting the facilities management industry.
